Home Groups are one of the best ways to get connected at Reliance.  Essentially, Home Groups are small gatherings of people that meet weekly in homes throughout the valley.  They are designed to help facilitate community and growth in Christ through honest prayer, biblical fellowship, a shared meal, and a conversational Bible study through the Sunday Scripture and sermon.  Not only will you form Gospel-centered friendships, but attending a Home Group will provide opportunities for you to be edified, equipped, and encouraged as a disciple of Christ.

Home Groups meet for two, 14-week semesters during the Spring (February-May) and Fall (September-December) seasons.  Meeting details vary by group, but generally occur on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for 1.5-2 hours.  All Home Groups forgo their weekly meeting on the first week of the month in order to gather corporately with the rest of the church body at FIRST WEDNESDAY, a night of worship and prayer.

Home Groups are essential to the vision of Reliance Church as we aim to lead people to know, love, and serve Jesus.  Joining a Home Group is a great way to “put feet on your faith” and practically live out the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Acts 2:42 – And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

What Others Are Saying

“This group has been a huge blessing to me. My goal was to get closer to God and meet some potential friends. I ended up loving our whole group and I’m getting to make more friends than I could have imagined. It’s been a bigger blessing than I had even hoped for. It’s nice to be able to have some really good deep conversation with people who are experiencing similar life struggles. I look forward to going every week.”

-Kelsey

-Ryan

“We love our Young Families group. Having a place to go with childcare is deeply appreciated. It’s been a great way for us to get reconnected after Covid and having a baby not to mention meeting the many new families now attending Reliance!”

Leah

“I would have to say the greatest blessing is getting to know more people in our church on a more personal level. That is to say more folks that share a common interest and commitment to Jesus along with a willingness to grow in the Word.”

-Steve

“Greatest blessing is being with fellow Christians who are in the same age bracket. Making new friends. Being able to edify and pray for others.”

-Karen

“Feeling welcomed from the first moment, the fellowship, was a huge blessing. Our hosts are gracious & loving. The Home Group was at a deeper level than ones I have been in at my former church. Diving deeper meant growing in Christ. As a lifelong Christian, I am learning more & more being a part of a Reliance Home Group.”

-Kim

“Love the Home Group. Great balance of structured questions and leadings by the Holy Spirit. Our facilitator is adept at asking questions and seeking responses while being authentic and vulnerable in sharing personally. Group members always have valuable insight to share and are faithful in asking for prayer and praying for others.”

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q:  Do you offer childcare for Home Groups?  Can my teenager join me?

Young Family Home Groups offer childcare for kids 0-3rd grade.  All childcare volunteers have been “Red-Shirt” trained through our Reliance Kids Ministry and have been background checked + live scanned.  Your teenager is welcome to join you as a contributing member to the group.

Q:  Am I allowed to switch Home Groups?

You are able to switch Home Groups, but ask that you prayerfully consider committing for the entire semester.  There is a 3-week grace period where changes are allowed in order to help you find the best fit.  We have an Open Registration period following the conclusion of the semester and this is primarily when changes are made.

Q:  Do you have a Home Group for Young Adults?

Yes, our Young Adults Home Group (18-25 years old) meets on Tuesday nights from 6:30pm-8:30pm.  Click on JOIN A HOME GROUP to sign-up!

Q:  Do you offer online Home Groups?

We believe in the power and growth that comes from gathering in-person and for that reason, Home Groups are not currently available online.

Q:  Do you have to be a member of Reliance Church to participate in a Home Group?

Reliance Home Groups are primarily for our members, but church membership is not a requirement.

Q:  What if I have to miss one of the weekly meetings?

We understand the occasional need to miss a weekly meeting, but communication is key.  Please notify your Home Group Facilitator/Host as soon as possible so that accommodations can be made.

Q:  How do I start a Home Group?

We are excited for your interest to get involved in a leadership capacity.  Please click on JOIN A HOME GROUP to get the process started.  Generally speaking, we ask that you participate in a Reliance Home Group for at least one semester before serving in a leadership capacity.
