Children’s Ministry Vision
Reliance Church Children’s Ministry is based on three Scriptures: Romans 5:08, Matthew 22:37-39, & Deuteronomy 6:18:
“God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:08
“You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37-39
“…you shall do what is right and good in the sight of the LORD, that it may be well with you…” Deuteronomy 6:18
Basing our lessons and curriculum on these foundational truths, enables the children to have a simplified understanding of what we are called to do; Love God in response to His love for us and, in loving Him, strive to obey and please Him by extending the love we have received from Him to others.
We endeavor to instruct the children in age appropriate activities and lessons that may be applied in their everyday lives well beyond the bounds of Sunday services. Not only do we believe that as Children they hold a great place in the Lord’s heart (Mat. 19:14, Mark 10:14 and Luke 18:16), but we also know that they, as small as they are, as young as they are, as innocent as they are, are the soldiers of Christ who are in territories beyond enemy lines. They are God’s soldiers in their homes after “church” concludes and everyday life resumes… where the hectic pressures of life sometimes makes us forget what we learned at church. Let us not fail to see that although they are just children they are, if equipped with God’s Word, one of the greatest weapons in God’s arsenal against the enemy as well as a part of God’s body meant to love and be a reflection of Him.
Our children are the world’s future and the future of the Christian faith. In the words of C.H. Spurgeon
“Train up a child, and he may have 50 years of holy service before him… The past has been and we cannot alter it; even the present is gone while we gaze on it; but our hope lies in the future: therefore, leave room for the children, leave room for the boys and girls!”
