This acronym is derived from 2 Timothy 2:15- which states:

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15 NKJV)

The AWANA club at Reliance Church is strategically designed to come along side parents to work together to develop spiritually strong children who faithfully follow Jesus Christ! By the Lord’s grace, the AWANA ministry & its faithful volunteers are instruments that will be used by the Lord to train up the future soldiers in His Kingdom.

Our goal is to reach girls and boys with the gospel of Jesus Christ and to train them to serve Jesus in their lives now and as they grow up. We firmly believe that as we teach the children the Word of God it will be hidden in their hearts and pulled out by the Holy Spirit in their time of need.  God’s Word does not return void and with the seeds planted, harvest will follow.

Each child progresses at their own level just as a babe in Christ progresses, one step at a time.  Children are rewarded for their own level of progress, and not at another child’s level.

AWANA Club time is broken down in these areas:

Opening ceremony, prayer, contests, theme nights, handbook study time, Bible story and council time, songs, Bible quiz games, and more games!

Today, more than 12,000 U.S. churches run Awana with programs in all 50 states. Awana can also be found in over 6,000 churches in 109 other countries.

God continues to bless and grow this ministry because, simply put, Kids matter to God and accordingly, they need to matter to us!  If you have a heart for kids like that of our loving Father’s then this is your ministry.

AWANA meets at Reliance Church every Wednesday from  6:30 – 8:00 pm for 36 weeks with a break for summer.

We will be having a potluck to celebrate with those that will be baptized.  Please bring a dish to share.

If you would like to participate in the upcoming Child Dedication please sign up at the table outside or here online.  Mandatory class Friday, September 24 at 7pm in room 103.  Both parents must attend the class,  no childcare available.

The weekend celebrated God’s gift of marriage as well as challenged husbands and wives to take seriously the roles they have assumed.  Pastor Craig Caster of Family Discipleship Ministries expertly mixed hilarious marriage anecdotes with time-tested Biblical wisdom.  Most importantly, Pastor Craig emphasized the need for couples to work on being good at marriage by growing, both individually and together, according to God’s Word.  He reminded the couples that good marriages aren’t just the natural byproduct of time.

Ice-breaker games revealed that the couples at the retreat had been married for only eight months all the way up to an impressive 33 years. Wedding photos posted on the lobby wall gave glimpses into the past (including some ill-advised hairstyles and puffy sleeves).  Most couples spent their free time by the pool (a must in the desert), getting to know other couples, or enjoying some romantic time away from stress, jobs, and kids.

All in all, Reliance’s first marriage retreat brought husbands and wives together to worship, be shaped by God’s Word, and enjoy the blessing of marriage during a quick weekend getaway.
