There are home videos of me singing, “Jesus loves me this I know…” as early as two and three years old. I have vague and sweet memories of listening to Psalty The Singing Song Book (Praise & Worship music for kids) putting me to sleep during naptime as a very young child. To put it simply, I’ve been a Christian for as long as I can remember. Well, I should say that I grew up in a Christian home and was always taught the love of Jesus from an early age. In fact, I can still remember holding my mother’s hands as she led me in the prayer where I accepted Jesus into my heart—I was around five or six then. Even at that young age, my faith was a huge and important part of my life. I can say with all sincerity, my faith has never wavered, in that I’ve never questioned whether or not God was real or whether He loved me. I have always thought of Him like the wind. Although I can’t physically see Him standing in front of me, like a cool breeze, I can feel Him moving in my life.
With 2017 in our rearview mirror, we thought we’d share an update on the construction of the future home of Reliance Church! God has been faithfully providing every step of the way and we have faith that he will continue to do so! If you would like to give to support the ongoing construction project, click here.
Do you trust God to deliver you from captivity? God teaches us in His Word that we can live in freedom. Listen to a devotional by Brenda Leavenworth who shares about crying out to God in prayer.
Today we’re highlighting the Clover family, currently serving as missionaries in Papua New Guinea! Steve recently spoke with a Papua New Guinean who was reticent to attend church because he didn’t believe it changed people. He believed that because they don’t have the Bible in their own language, people don’t really understand what the Bible says. Through their lengthy conversation, Steve conveyed to him that the Christian life is about knowing and loving Jesus and then, in turn, loving others. The man was so grateful to receive this information and eager to share it with his wife. Steve was encouraged to continue the work of making the Bible available to everyone in their own language.
Fear. This one small word is packed with so much influence that at times I am overtaken or paralyzed by it. It is an obstruction that distorts the direction which is being laid out and appointed for me to go. It is a shadow that causes the light upon my path to grow dim and seemingly unknown. It is a heaviness that causes my heart to quiver and my mind to race. This fear has gripped my life for many years, strangling chance after chance for me to step out in faith and move courageously. Have you ever felt like this or experienced this at any point in your life? I can’t go there. I can’t do that. What will become of this or result of that?
